The Sun by JG was born out of a search for wearable jewelry that represents the Filipino culture.
“I created The Sun because I was in search of a piece of jewelry I could wear daily to represent my culture. I wanted to design something that would last - a piece I could pass down to my sons or daughter, so I had to make sure it was of high quality.
I shared a photo on social media with The Sun pendant on and I was overwhelmed with requests, so I decided to produce an exclusive 50 pieces. The Sun on the national flag of the Philippines represents liberty and its eight rays signify the first eight provinces that revolted against Spain in the late 1800s. Since we are launching in May, which is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, I decided to donate a portion of May sales to SIPA, a Filipino non-profit organization in Los Angeles striving to preserve the Filipino culture.
For each release, I will continue to support the community by donating a portion of the proceeds to different Fil-Am organizations.
Beyond representing culture, The Sun by definition - provides the light and energy that sustains life on this earth. Each new day is an opportunity to become a better version of ourselves. I hope you take pride and find your meaning when wearing this piece.
I can’t wait to see you live and roam in your own Sun.”
